Summer is finally here and if you’re anything like us, you’re ready to get out there and enjoy it! But all that heat and humidity puts you at higher risk for things like vulvar and vaginal itching, discomfort, and even yeast infections. Here are our top tips to keep your sweet spots happy and healthy all summer long.
Go Commando
With the world opening back up, we’re wearing real pants again. But you gotta let your vulva breathe! Spending too long in tight, restrictive underwear can lead to itching and potentially yeast infections. If you can, skip the undies - even if it’s only while you sleep. If you can’t, opt for a pair that’s loose-fitting in a natural (re: breathable) fabric like cotton.
Hydrate
You’re probably already chugging extra H20 like there’s no tomorrow (#health), but did you know your vulva needs hydration too? Yep. And a dry vulva is an itchy vulva, so drink up and grab Hydrate Ever After for a daily moisture boost that’s like a cool drink of water for your sweet spots.
...But Keep it Dry
A wet swimsuit is a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. So when you’re done rockin’ that new bikini, change into dry clothing ASAP to reduce the risk of vaginal yeast infections.
Wait After You Wax
If you shave or wax your bikini area, wait a day before you hit the pool or the beach.Hair removal leaves skin more exposed and vulnerable to irritation, ingrowns, and even infection.
Banish Bad Bacteria
Whether you’re enjoying the great outdoors or things are getting hot and heavy in the bedroom, we tend to sweat more in the summer. And more sweat means more bacteria, which can be bad news for your sweet spots. Check out our compostable, travel-friendly wipes or go greener with gel wipes for a quick cleanup whenever you need it.
Avoid Harsh Soaps
If you prefer to wash rather than wipe, check out our gynecologist tested and approved cleansers. Each is ph-balanced to vulvar skin and packed with gentle, soothing ingredients to lift away irritants while respecting the skin barrier.
However you spend your summer, we hope it’s a great one!
