Big news for women’s health - and it’s long overdue.
For the first time in more than 20 years, theFDA is officially rewriting the story around hormone therapy. After a July 2025 expert review and thousands of public comments, the agency has announced the removal of long-standing boxed warnings from many hormone therapy products - including estrogen-only, progestogen-only, and combination therapies.
They’re also eliminating the outdated “lowest dose for the shortest time” rule - opening the door for morepersonalized, evidence-based care instead of fear-driven limitations.
Two Decades of Misinformation and Missed Care
For over 20 years, the 2002Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study cast a shadow over hormone therapy. Its misunderstood results led to widespread fear and a generation of women being told to “just live with” menopause and perimenopause symptoms.
Doctors grew cautious. Pharmacists faced scrutiny. And women - especially those navigating changes in their hormones, skin, and intimate health - were left without the support they needed.
At SweetSpot Labs, we’ve always believed thatunderstanding your body is power. When fear replaces facts, women lose access to care, comfort, and confidence in their own biology.
The FDA’s Long Overdue Course Correction
Now, the FDA has finally acknowledged what clinicians, researchers, and countless women have known for years:
Hormone therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every woman is unique - her care should be, too.
By updating hormone therapy labeling and distinguishing between systemic and topical hormones, the FDA is empowering women and their healthcare providers to make informed, individualized choices based on science, not stigma.
What This Means for You
This is more than a regulatory update - it’s acultural reset for women’s health.
For decades, fear-based messaging has shaped how we talk about everything from menopause to vulvar care. Today, that begins to change.
This shift reaffirms something we stand for at SweetSpot Labs: thatbody literacy and access to safe, science-backed options are the foundation of women’s health and well-being.
As conversations about hormones, menopause, and intimate wellness evolve, our mission remains the same - to help women feel empowered, informed, and comfortable in every stage of life.
Moving Forward with Confidence
If this news sparks questions for you - good. It’s time to talk more openly about hormones, vaginal and vulvar health, and what your body needs to feel balanced and supported.
Because when women are informed, we make choices based on knowledge, not fear.
Here’s to more access, more clarity, and more confidence in your own sweet spot.
