The key to combating winter dryness is hydration. Opt for a gentle, moisturizing wash like SweetSpot Labs' Barrier Rescue Wash. This pH-balanced, hypoallergenic formula boosts skin moisture for 24 hours after each shower. Remember to keep the water temperature lukewarm, as hot water can strip away natural oils and exacerbate dryness.
Following your shower, pat yourself dry and reach for a nourishing moisturizer like Hydrate Ever After. Its lightweight, non-greasy formula replenishes and locks in moisture, leaving your skin soft and supple. Pay extra attention to areas prone to dryness, like the bikini line and inner thighs.
Check the labels on your personal care products for ingredients that could be potentially drying or irritating. Sulfates, parabens and essential oils are common culprits.
Winter layers can sometimes lead to increased moisture, which, in turn, might contribute to uncomfortable issues like yeast infections. Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton to allow air circulation and prevent excess humidity. Keep pH-balancing wipes like these on hand for a quick refresh during the day.
Consider incorporating prebiotics into your intimate skincare routine. Microbiome Balancing Wash and Microbiome Balancing Spray are packed with prebiotics to help balance vulvovaginal flora and prevent common intimate issues like itching, abnormal odor, and irritation.
With the right products and a little extra TLC, you can keep your most intimate skin feeling happy and healthy, no matter the weather. So, bundle up, embrace the winter magic, and let your intimate skin thrive this winter!
]]>The first step in preventing intimate itching is paying attention to your underwear. Opt for breathable fabrics, like cotton, to allow proper airflow. Tight and restrictive fabrics, like spandex, nylon or polyester, can create a warm, moist environment that encourages the growth of bacteria. And where there’s bacteria overgrowth, there’s itching.
You probably know that hanging around in a wet bathing suit is not ideal for intimate health. But it’s not just a summertime rule! All those layers you wear in winter are great for keeping you warm but they also keep your sweet spots warm (and moist) - which spells bacteria. So let your sweet spots breathe! You can try sleeping without underwear in loose, baggy pants or shorts. And be sure to cleanse regularly to get rid of the impurities that can cause itching.
Speaking of cleansing, be sure to look at the ingredients in your feminine wash. Harsh soaps can disrupt the natural pH balance of your vulvovaginal area and lead to more itching. Choose a sulfate-free, pH-optimized wash like SweetSpot Labs Microbiome Balancing Wash, specifically formulated with prebiotics and without common yeast triggers to keep your sweet spots happy and healthy.
More often than not, the root cause of itching “down there” is an imbalance of bacteria and/or yeast. SweetSpot Labs Microbiome Balancing Wash & Spray promote healthy flora to prevent itching. In the shower, the wash lifts away impurities and optimizes pH levels. After the shower, the spray neutralizes itch-inducing bacteria and promotes a healthy balance of candida.
The fabrics that come into contact with your intimate areas include not just your underwear but also your everyday clothing and bedsheets. Opt for gentle, fragrance-free detergents when doing your laundry. Fragrances and harsh chemicals in detergents can irritate the skin, potentially leading to itching and discomfort.
If you're sexually active, using lubrication can significantly reduce friction, preventing irritation and itching. This might include lubricated condoms, lube, or both. When it comes to lubrication, keep in mind that water-based and silicone lubes are safe to use with any condom but oil can damage latex condoms and cause them to break. So skip the lotion, vaseline or coconut oil!
Adequate hydration is important to your overall health as well as your intimate wellbeing. Water helps keep your skin, including the sensitive skin in your intimate area, hydrated and healthy. For an added boost of hydration, an intimate moisturizer like this one can help replenish your natural moisture and reduce itching.
Your intimate health is an essential part of self-care, and embracing these habits can lead to a happier, more comfortable you in the new year and beyond!

]]>Body scrubs often contain abrasive particles that are meant to exfoliate and smooth skin. The truth is, these abrasives can create microtears in the skin that not only contribute to inflammation but can also worsen existing skin conditions. This is especially true for sensitive areas, like the bikini line.
The skin has a protective barrier that shields it from external aggressors. Harsh scrubs can strip away this barrier, leaving the skin vulnerable to infections, irritation, and more bumps.
While exfoliation is key to addressing conditions like KP, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs, they require a delicate touch. Harsh abrasives like those found in the average body scrub can aggravate these issues by causing more inflammation and leading to further blockages in hair follicles.
The good news is, there is a way to target rough, bumpy skin without harsh abrasives. Meet Buff & Brighten PHA Polishing Powder, a water-activated body polish that exfoliates in a smarter way. Here’s how:
Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA)
SweetSpot Labs' Buff & Brighten Powder uses the power of PHA to provide effective exfoliation without the need to scrub your skin within an inch of its life. This high-tech chemical exfoliant works by encouraging the natural shedding of dead skin cells, promoting a smoother and brighter complexion.
AHAs + BHAs
In addition to PHA, Buff & Brighten Powder is made with clinically-active levels of beloved exfoliants AHA and BHA (like the ones you know and love in our best-selling ingrown hair pads). That’s 3X the exfoliating power of the average body scrub with none of the drawbacks.
Skin Barrier Support
The key to treating and preventing conditions that cause bumps, like KP and “chicken skin,” is to have a healthy skin barrier. Most body scrubs only serve one purpose - exfoliation. Buff & Brighten Powder gently exfoliates and moisturizes to support skin barrier health. Formulated with our innovative Renewing Triplex (Niacinamide + Colloidal Oatmeal + Probiotics) it supports the skin barrier to protect sensitive skin and restore comfort over time.
Water-Activated Formula
Unlike traditional body scrubs that can feel like rubbing tiny knives all over your skin, Buff & Brighten Powder is activated by water, ensuring a controlled and customizable exfoliation experience. This eliminates the risk of over-scrubbing, making it suitable for regular use without causing irritation.
Non-Irritating
Say goodbye to worries about microtears and irritation. Buff & Brighten Powder works gently to reveal your skin's natural glow, without the harsh side effects of conventional body scrubs.
Safe for All Skin
Buff & Brighten is crafted with care to be safe for all skin, even the most intimate and sensitive. That means you can use it wherever you need it - bikini area, butt, legs, arms, back, underarms - without compromising skin health.
1. Prep with AHA/BHA Exfoliating Pads:
For optimal results, start by prepping your skin with Buff & Brighten AHA/BHA Exfoliating Pads. These pads help loosen surface debris, making the Buff & Brighten PHA Polishing Powder more effective.
2. Water Activation:
Dispense a small amount of the powder onto wet hands, and gently massage onto rough, bumpy skin anywhere you’ve got it. For even more foaming action, mix the powder into your favorite SweetSpot Labs Intimate & Body Cleanser!
3. Rinse and Hydrate:
Thoroughly rinse your skin after application and follow up with a non-comedogenic moisturizer like Hydrate Ever After. This final step ensures that your skin remains nourished and hydrated post-exfoliation.
Buff & Brighten Powder is powered by PHAs. Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs) are a group of chemical exfoliants that are quickly becoming a favorite in the skincare world and a must-have for anyone with rough, bumpy skin like KP. They're known for their gentle yet effective exfoliating properties. Unlike more aggressive exfoliants and scrubs, PHAs work by helping the skin shed dead cells gradually, making them an excellent choice for sensitive skin and common skin concerns like keratosis pilaris, ingrown hair, and breakouts.
Keratosis pilaris is a common skin condition characterized by small, rough, raised bumps on the skin, often found on the upper arms, thighs, and buttocks. PHAs, like those found in Buff & Brighten Polishing Powder, can be especially beneficial for those dealing with keratosis pilaris.
The gentle exfoliation provided by PHAs helps to smooth the skin's surface by removing dead skin cells and reducing the buildup of keratin. This action can lead to a visible improvement in the texture and appearance of the affected areas. Additionally, PHAs are known for their hydrating properties, making them an excellent choice for individuals who often find their skin to be dry or sensitive.
When perimenopause starts can vary. It typically begins in a woman's 40s but can start earlier or later for some. It's characterized by hormonal fluctuations as the body prepares for menopause. These hormonal shifts can lead to a wide range of symptoms, including:
Amidst these perimenopause symptoms, changes in intimate health can be particularly challenging. Reduced estrogen levels can lead to vaginal dryness and thinning of the vaginal walls, making intercourse uncomfortable or even painful. Maintaining proper “down there” care becomes essential to mitigate these symptoms and enhance your overall well-being.
Taking care of your sweet spots is important at all stages of life, and particularly during perimenopause. Here are our top tips for vulva care:
Curious to find the perfect intimate skincare solutions for your unique needs during perimenopause? Take the SweetSpot Labs Quiz! This quick assessment will help you identify the ideal products to address your specific symptoms. Whether you're dealing with dryness, irritation, or other intimate health concerns, we’ll give you personalized recommendations for your perimenopausal journey.
Perimenopause is a transformative phase in a woman's life, bringing both familiar and less-discussed symptoms. Intimate health is a crucial aspect of this journey, and vulva care plays a significant role in ensuring your well-being.
]]>Before we get to solutions, let's explore the science behind intimate odor. The vagina, the internal part of the female reproductive system, is a self-cleaning organ with its own pH balance. It's essential to note that the vagina itself does not produce odor when in a healthy state. Instead, intimate odor is typically associated with the skin surrounding the vagina, known as the vulva.
The vulva is home to a diverse community of bacteria known as the microbiome. Just like the skin on other areas of our bodies, these bacteria produce natural odors as part of their metabolic processes. These odors can vary from person to person and may be influenced by factors such as diet, hygiene practices, and hormonal changes. Having intimate odor doesn’t necessarily indicate poor hygiene or health (although it’s important to note that some conditions like bacterial vaginosis can come with a distinct odor).
Long story short, all odor - even odor below the belt - is caused by bacteria on the skin and, in most cases, is a completely normal occurrence. So let’s stop giving the vagina a bad rap!
While you might hear some talk about how having a smell down there is wrong or gross, we know that’s just not the case! Every sweet spot has its own unique microbiome, and its own natural scent - there’s nothing wrong with that. Let's dispel a couple of common myths about intimate odor:
Myth 1: The Vagina is to Blame
The Truth: As mentioned earlier, the vagina itself does not produce any odor when healthy. Intimate odor is primarily associated with the vulva, which includes the external genitalia. Just like the rest of your body, the vulva is prone to sweat and other bodily functions that feed bacteria and produce odor.
Myth 2: Your Sweet Spot Should Smell Like a Flower
The Truth: Using strongly scented products, such as heavily perfumed soaps or wipes, to mask intimate odor can sometimes do more harm than good. Not only does the fragrance not address the issue at the source, but these products may disrupt the natural balance of bacteria on the vulva and lead to further odor issues or other intimate conditions like contact dermatitis. Your best bet is a fragrance-free feminine wash like this one.
If you just gotta have a scented intimate wash, try SweetSpot Labs Vanilla Blossom Wash. It’s gently fragranced with just a hint of warm vanilla for a wash that smells sweet and is sweet on sensitive skin.
Maintaining sweet-smelling sweet spots doesn't require harsh, fragranced products. Instead, opt for gentle solutions that respect your body's natural processes. SweetSpot Labs offers a range of products designed to neutralize odor-causing bacteria while supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria without compromising pH levels.
By incorporating these products into your daily routine, you can address intimate odor at its source without needing harsh or fragrant solutions.
In addition to using microbiome-balancing products, consider these tips for battling odor below the belt:
Intimate odor is a natural part of the human experience. Remember that the vagina itself is not the source of intimate odor; it's the bacteria on the vulva. By using bacteria-balancing products like SweetSpot Labs Microbiome Balancing Intimate Wash and Intimate Spray, you can neutralize odor-causing bacteria while supporting a healthy vulva microbiome. Embrace your body's natural processes, stay confident, and prioritize your intimate well-being.
]]>Whether you’re a runner or a Pilates aficionado, exercise can lead to sweat and friction, which may cause discomfort or irritation in the vulva area. Before your workout, applying a vulva cream like SweetSpot Labs' Hydrate Ever After can provide a protective barrier and reduce the risk of chafing and discomfort during exercise. After your workout, use intimate wipes or a wash to cleanse the area and re-apply moisturizer to soothe any potential irritation and maintain optimal moisture levels.
During the menstrual cycle, hormonal shifts can affect the moisture levels in your vulva. Many women experience dryness, itching, or discomfort as a result of low estrogen. Using a vulva moisturizer before your period can help alleviate or even prevent these symptoms. Hydrate Ever After is specifically formulated with skin-similar emollients to nourish and hydrate delicate intimate skin, so you can stay comfy during this time of the month.
Shaving or waxing the bikini area tends to leave the skin feeling sensitive and prone to irritation like razor bumps and ingrown hair. What can you do? Applying a vulva moisturizer immediately after hair removal can help soothe the skin and reduce any potential redness or inflammation. You’ll just want to be sure to choose one that is non-comedogenic (aka won’t clog pores). Common moisturizers often contain pore-clogging ingredients like coconut oil that can actually make razor bumps and ingrowns worse.
Certain medications, including hormonal contraceptives, antihistamines and antidepressants, can cause dryness - below the belt and elsewhere. This dryness may cause discomfort, itching, or a general feeling of tightness. Using a vulva moisturizer daily can help counteract the effects of these medications and provide much-needed relief.
Pregnancy and postpartum can be quite the hormonal roller coaster. With all those hormones fluctuating, many women experience dryness, itching, or sensitivity in their intimate areas. Using a vulva moisturizer is crucial throughout pregnancy, after delivery, and while breastfeeding to maintain hydration and support the skin health. An intimate moisturizer like Hydrate Ever After can also be used to moisturize pregnant bellies (hello, stretch marks), dry/cracked nipples, and for the all-important perineal massage.
When looking for a moisturizer for pregnant private parts, be sure to look for a solution that is gynecologist tested and approved and non-irritating, since skin can be extra sensitive before and after childbirth. You’ll also want to take a closer look at ingredients during this time, since there are certain ingredients to avoid while pregnant.
Menopause is highly associated with dry, itchy sweet spots. But perimenopause, the transitional phase before menopause, brings hormonal fluctuations that can have a similar effect on the vulva's moisture balance at an earlier age. Estrogen levels start to decline during this time, leading to dryness, itching, and discomfort. Incorporating a vulva moisturizer into your daily routine can help alleviate these symptoms and maintain a healthy intimate environment. Over time, a vulva cream like Hydrate Ever After can also help restore comfort during sex for increased pleasure. What’s not to love about that?
Taking care of your intimate skin health is just as important as caring for the skin others can see, and we believe, essential for overall well-being. Incorporating a vulva moisturizer like Hydrate Ever After into your daily routine can provide the necessary hydration and soothing relief for healthy, happy sweet spots.

]]>Since ingrown hairs are caused by hair trapped under the skin’s surface, the obvious solution is to set them free with exfoliation. Making exfoliation a regular part of your routine is key to preventing and treating ingrown hairs. By removing dead skin cells that can block hair follicles, you create a clear path for hair to grow out, rather than back in on itself. But before you pull out your favorite body scrub and go to town on your skin, consider a gentler alternative: chemical exfoliation. Certain acids, like the ones in Buff & Brighten, exfoliate by sloughing off dead skin cells and unclogging pores, reducing the chances of ingrown hairs. This form of exfoliation is not only gentler, but can also be more effective. When choosing the best exfoliating ingrown hair pad for you, look for a formula that’s safe for everywhere you might want to use it. Buff & Brighten is clinically proven non-irritating on intimate skin, so you can feel safe using it even on the most sensitive areas that may be prone to ingrown hair.
When ingrown hairs do pop up, it's essential to treat them effectively. First things first, do not pick at them. This may make the problem worse and can lead to other irritating side effects like post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (aka dark spots). Instead, use a spot treatment like SweetSpot Labs' Bikini & Body Bump Eraser. This safe, effective spot treatment features a unique Triple Purifying + Calming Complex to rapidly treat bumps and is clinically proven to be non-irritating on even the most intimate skin.
Apply a small amount of the spot treatment directly to the affected area, allow it to dry completely, then wipe clean.
Whether you prefer to shave or wax, it's important to take precautions to minimize the risk of ingrown hairs. When shaving, make sure to use a sharp razor and shave in the direction of hair growth to avoid irritation. SweetSpot Labs' Washes can double as a moisturizing shaving cream - providing a protective barrier and moisturizing the skin, allowing for the closest, smoothest shave possible. If waxing is your preferred method, be sure to prep skin with Buff & Brighten the day before, and follow proper aftercare to achieve the best results.
However you choose to get rid of ingrown hair, it’s important to be gentle on your skin. Harsh abrasives and chemicals can make the problem worse, and may lead to other skin conditions like dark spots and contact dermatitis. Look for products that are tested and recommended by unbiased gynecologists and dermatologists, free from common irritants and free from comedogenics that can clog pores. And remember, consistency is key when it comes to managing ingrown hairs! Stick to your skincare routine, be patient, and give your favorite products time to work their magic. With the right approach, you'll be able to enjoy smooth, bump-free skin.
]]>One of the most persistent myths is that shaving makes hair grow back thicker and darker. But that just isn’t true. Shaving only affects the hair shaft, not the hair follicle or root. When you shave, you're cutting the hair at its thickest point, which can create the illusion of coarser regrowth. In reality, the hair grows back with the same texture and color as before. So, feel free to embrace your razor without worrying about making things worse.
Ingrown hairs are super common, but they don’t have to be! With the right techniques and products, you can minimize ingrowns. Buff & Brighten Ingrown Hair Pads are a game-changer when it comes to banishing ingrown hair. Infused with gentle exfoliating acids like glycolic and salicylic acids, these pads help remove buildup that can keep hair trapped under the skin. Swipe onto skin to prep for a smooth shave and every day after to keep hair from growing back in on itself.
Nothing ruins a fresh shave like those red, pimple-like patches of razor bumps. And while they’re common, they’re not normal. Razor bumps are actually just ingrown hairs that become infected or inflamed. They usually happen because you’re shaving with a dull razor that injures the hair follicle and may introduce bacteria or fungi. You can prevent razor bumps by using shaving cream, exfoliating regularly, and using a fresh, sharp razor. And if razor bumps pop up? Reach for Bikini & Body Bump Eraser to target and treat razor bumps. With its powerful blend of bump-fighting ingredients, it helps calm inflammation and reduce redness. Apply a small amount wherever razor bumps pop up and watch them disappear.
Razor burn is exactly what it sounds like - a red, itchy rash-like irritation caused by too much friction between your skin and your razor. Proper skin prep and shaving technique can help you avoid razor burn altogether. First, leave shaving for the last step after a warm shower or bath to soften the hair and open the pores. Use a sharp, clean razor and apply a quality shaving cream or gel to create a protective barrier. It can be tempting to push your razor down harder to get a closer shave, but a gentle touch is what will get you a smooth shave without irritation. After shaving, rinse with cool water and pat skin dry. Last, moisturize with a non-comedogenic moisturizer to calm the skin and prevent further irritation.
Remember, proper technique, high-quality products, and a little self-care go a long way in achieving the perfect shave. Embrace the confidence that comes with silky-smooth skin and enjoy a flawless shaving experience with a little help from SweetSpot Labs.
]]>Vaginal itching is a common symptom of perimenopause. As estrogen levels begin to fluctuate, the tissues in the vaginal area can become dry and thin. Vaginal dryness often leads to irritation and vaginal itching. This can make activities like sex, exercise and even walking or sitting particularly uncomfortable.
To find relief from vaginal itching, it's important to stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet. Drinking plenty of water and consuming foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like fish and nuts, can help keep your vaginal tissues moist and healthy. You may also want to try using a water-based lubricant during sex to reduce friction and irritation.
For more tips and advice check out Perry, the perimenopause app, a thriving community where you can connect with other women who are going through the same experience.
The vulva is the external genital area that surrounds the vagina, and it can become itchy and irritated as hormone levels fluctuate. As intimate skin becomes thinner and drier during perimenopause, it can also become more sensitive. Products like scented feminine washes, bubble bath, and even shampoo or body wash with sulfates can become particularly irritating and lead to an itchy vulva. During perimenopause, you may also become more susceptible to vulvovaginal infections like yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis.
Itchy sweet spots can be particularly frustrating at night, when many women find themselves unable to fall asleep because of severe itching. To find relief from vulva itching, it's important to avoid using harsh soaps or other products that can dry out the skin. Instead, opt for gentle, fragrance-free products like SweetSpot Labs Intimate & Body Cleansers. You may also consider using an intimate moisturizer like Hydrate Ever After, which is specifically formulated to replenish natural moisture and help prevent itching and discomfort.
When you need instant relief, reach for ultra-rich Rescue Balm to soothe and calm an itchy, irritated vulva.
Finally, some women may experience general body itching or eczema flare-ups during perimenopause. This is likely due to changes in hormone levels, which can affect the skin's ability to retain moisture and regulate inflammation. Stress can also play a role in exacerbating skin conditions like eczema.
To find relief from body itching and eczema, it's important to moisturize regularly with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion. Look for products that contain ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid, which can help improve the skin barrier and retain moisture. Switch to a soap-free body wash like this one with colloidal oatmeal and try Rescue Balm for targeted moisture wherever you need it. You may also want to practice stress-reducing techniques like meditation or yoga.
Perimenopause can be a challenging and uncomfortable time, but there are things you can do to find relief from itching and discomfort. Remember, you're not alone in this experience – Perry is a great resource for connecting with like-minded women finding their way through this stage of life.

]]>Swipe a pre-saturated pad over dry skin to prevent buildup from trapping hair under the skin. That’s it! No scrubbing, no mess. Allow your skin to dry completely for the AHA and BHA to work their magic.
For best results, use Buff & Brighten daily. Each jar contains 50 biodegradable, single-use ingrown hair pads which means you get almost two months worth of use out of every purchase.
Because Buff & Brighten is pH-balanced and clinically proven non-irritating on intimate skin, you can feel safe using it anywhere you experience ingrown hair, razor bumps or dark spots. Under your arms? Yep. On your face or neck? Sure! Legs? You betcha. And, of course, your sweet spots.
1. Before Shaving
If you shave, you can use Buff & Brighten beforehand to help loosen debris and dead skin cells that can lead to clogged pores and ingrown hair. Just be sure to leave shaving for last in the shower to allow the warm water to soften skin, open pores, and prep skin for a smooth shave.
Want even more protection from bumps? Use Microbiome Balancing Wash as shaving cream for ingrown hair and razor bump prevention.
2. Before Waxing
Buff & Brighten is beloved by waxing studios and estheticians alike. But you don’t have to be a pro to get the smoothing benefits of these ingrown hair pads! Simply use the night before your wax to prep your skin and voila - the smoothest wax of your life.
Remember: estrogen levels drop before your period, causing a weaker skin barrier & more sensitive skin. If you menstruate, avoid waxing at the beginning of your cycle for less “ouch.”
3. After Waxing
Waxing aftercare is key to achieving the best results possible. 24 hours after your wax, use Buff & Brighten daily to help prevent ingrown hair & dark spots.
1. Identify the Cause
There are several underlying factors of dark spots and discoloration, but one of the most common is inflammation. Known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), this condition is the result of injury to the skin, like the kind that occurs when you shave or wax repeatedly.
2. Use Buff & Brighten
No amount of scrubbing will get rid of those dark spots. Physical exfoliation can irritate the skin and create more PIH. For brighter, more even toned skin, you want to go for a chemical exfoliator like the salicylic acid in Buff & Brighten to help fade the appearance of dark marks over time. Keep in mind that the longer the dark spots have been there, the longer it will take to see improvement.
3. Keep It Light!
Remember, skin injury and irritation can trigger PIH - pressing Buff & Brighten pads harder on your skin will not help with brightening. In fact, it will most likely make discoloration worse. So, always use a gentle sweeping motion.
]]>While it's true that waxing can be uncomfortable, it doesn’t have to hurt! Everyone's pain tolerance is different, and many people find that the discomfort is well worth the long-lasting results. Moreover, the pain can be reduced with proper techniques, such as proper skin prep, taking a pain reliever 30 minutes before waxing, and avoiding waxing during your period.
Sensitive skin can make waxing more challenging, but it doesn't mean that you can't do it. It's important to choose a high-quality wax that is specifically formulated for sensitive skin, as well as a skilled and experienced esthetician who can work with you to minimize discomfort and irritation. Also, it is important to avoid waxing immediately before or after a hot shower, bath or sauna, as it can cause the skin to become more sensitive.
One of the biggest concerns when it comes to waxing is the aftermath. Who wants to be left with red, bumpy skin after a wax? While it is possible to develop ingrown hairs after waxing, it's not a direct result of the waxing process itself. Ingrown hairs occur when hair grows back into the skin instead of outward, which can happen with any hair removal method, including shaving. To reduce the risk of ingrown hairs, it is important to exfoliate both before and after waxing with a gentle exfoliator like Buff & Brighten Ingrown Hair Pads, avoid wearing tight clothing, and moisturize the skin daily.
If you’re prone to ingrown hair, keep a bump-busting spot treatment like Bikini & Body Bump Eraser on hand to clear those pesky bumps ASAP.
Although we wish it were true, waxing does not permanently reduce hair growth. Waxing may result in finer and sparser hair over time, but it is not a permanent solution to hair removal. This is because waxing only removes the hair from the root, but does not destroy the hair follicle. Additionally, hormonal changes and certain medications can cause hair to grow back thicker and faster.
While it's important to take precautions when waxing during pregnancy, it's still possible to do it safely. It's recommended to avoid waxing during the first trimester and to inform your esthetician if you are pregnant, as the skin may be more sensitive and prone to irritation. It's also important to avoid waxing the abdominal area, which can cause stretching and tearing of the skin.
Prep Your Skin: Exfoliate the skin regularly to remove dead skin cells and allow for easier hair removal. Buff & Brighten Exfoliating Pads for Ingrown Hair perfectly prep skin for waxing and can help prevent ingrown hair and bumps. Avoid using lotions, oils or creams on the day of your waxing appointment as it can interfere with the wax.
Let the Hair Grow: For best results, allow the hair to grow to at least a quarter-inch before waxing. Avoid trimming the hair too short or too long, as it can make the waxing process more difficult.
Minimize Pain: Use a pain reliever 30 minutes prior to your appointment, or use a numbing cream or spray. Also, avoid waxing during your period, when your hormones can make skin more sensitive and prone to irritation.
Follow Proper Waxing Aftercare: Avoid wearing tight clothes for a few days after waxing to prevent ingrown hair and itching. Continue exfoliating daily, and keep the area moisturized with a moisturizer like Hydrate Ever After that won’t clog pores.
With the right preparation, technique, and aftercare, waxing can be a safe and effective hair removal method. For smooth, summer-ready skin check out these must-haves for anywhere you shave or wax.

Apply Bikini & Body Bump Eraser ASAP. The exfoliating properties of its Triple Purifying Complex help to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, allowing those trapped hairs to break free. Pair with Buff & Brighten Ingrown Hair Pads daily to keep those ingrown hairs from coming back.
Razor bumps are a super common concern after shaving, and can leave you feeling itchy and irritated - not to mention the red, pimple-like bumps. Anybody who shaves is at risk for razor bumps, but naturally curly hair (like pubic hair) is more prone. If you’re looking for someone to blame for your razor burn troubles, the most likely culprit is your razor itself. A dull razor can injure the hair follicle during the actual act of shaving and lead to annoying bumps. Consider Bikini & Body Bump Eraser your secret weapon against razor bumps. Packed with powerful actives that target impurities, this spot treatment leaves skin clear, calm, and smooth. Plus, it’s clinically proven non-irritating on intimate skin so you know it’s safe to use anywhere bumps pop up.
Buttne, or acne on your booty, can be super frustrating. And it always seems to pop up at exactly the wrong time! Fortunately, SweetSpot Labs Bikini & Body Bump Eraser is here to help. That’s right, this spot treatment isn’t just for your intimate skin - use it wherever you need it! As soon as you spot a bump on your bum, apply and let dry. Breakout-fighting superstars like azelaic acid, salicylic acid, and niacinamide help clear bumps fast. Repeat 1-2 times a day to say goodbye to buttne and hello to smoother, clearer skin.
Speaking of breakouts on your backside… bacne, or acne on the back, is another skin concern Bikini & Body Bump Eraser has covered. Gentle exfoliation purifies pores and removes dead skin cells that can contribute to breakouts. Some bacne might actually be fungal folliculitis - which is caused by Malassezia yeast rather than bacteria. ]]>These chemicals are commonly used in fragrance and can be found in a variety of personal care products, including body washes, lotions, and feminine hygiene products. As known endocrine disruptors, phthalates can interfere with the body’s hormones (known as the endocrine system), which can cause adverse effects on the reproductive system among others.
A common ingredient in cleansers, shampoos, and body washes, sulfates are used to create the familiar foamy lather we know and love. But sulfates also happen to be known irritants. They can trigger irritating skin conditions like contact dermatitis, itching, redness, and even burning/stinging. Look for products that are sulfate-free like our gentle washes that offer a rich, luxurious lather without the irritation.
Parabens are preservatives used in many personal care and hygiene products to extend shelf life, but they can also mimic estrogen and disrupt hormonal balance. This can potentially harm both the mother and the baby.
Synthetic fragrances can contain phthalates, and have been linked to allergic reactions, skin irritation, and other health concerns. If you can’t give up fragrance, look for gently fragranced alternatives like our scented washes that contain just 0.5% fragrance to smell great and stay sweet on skin.
SweetSpot Labs offers a range of intimate skincare products that are safe, clean, and gentle, making them the perfect alternative for pregnant women. Our solutions are free from phthalates, parabens, sulfates, and in many cases, fragrance. Instead, we use naturally-derived ingredients and consciously clean biotech ingredients that respect and protect the health and balance of your sweet spots.

Another great option is Microbiome Balancing Intimate & Body Wash. This gentle wash balances the body's natural pH balance and is free from harsh ingredients. It is fragrance-free and formulated with prebiotics and lactic acid to promote a healthy vaginal microbiome, which is especially important during pregnancy.

]]>Vaginal dryness isn’t a concern only during menopause! During the menstrual cycle, the body experiences a variety of hormonal changes that can impact vaginal moisture. In the first half of the cycle, estrogen levels begin to rise. This increase in estrogen helps to thicken the lining of the uterus, preparing for a potential pregnancy. At the same time, the cervix produces mucus to help sperm travel through the cervix and into the uterus. This mucus also helps to lubricate the vaginal canal, making it easier and more comfortable to insert menstrual products or engage in sexual activity.
As ovulation approaches, estrogen levels continue to rise, peaking just before ovulation. This surge in estrogen helps to thin out the cervical mucus, making it easier for sperm to travel through. However, it can also lead to a temporary decrease in vaginal moisture. This can make insertion of menstrual products or engaging in sexual activity more difficult and uncomfortable.
After ovulation, estrogen levels begin to decline, and progesterone levels rise. This shift in hormones can also impact vaginal moisture, causing a further decrease in lubrication. In some cases, women may experience vaginal dryness throughout the second half of their menstrual cycle, leading to discomfort, itching, and even pain during intercourse or insertion of menstrual products.
Fortunately, there are a number of solutions available to help manage vulva and vaginal dryness during the menstrual cycle.
For women who experience painful insertion at the vaginal opening, lubricated tampons like these from Marlow can be a period-changing solution. Marlow tampons make inserting tampons super smooth and 100% pain-free thanks to their mess-free water-based lubricant. Bonus: the lube can also be used to increase pleasure during sex. Win win!
Just like the skin on your face may need a bit of support in the moisture department, so too does the skin around your vulva. SweetSpot Labs Hydrate Ever After is a daily moisturizing serum for your intimate skin. It is specifically formulated to hydrate and nourish delicate intimate areas without harsh chemicals or fragrance. Apply a pea-sized amount daily throughout the second half of your cycle to protect the skin barrier and keep you comfy all period long.
When you need immediate relief from super dry, itchy, irritated sweet spots, reach for Rescue Balm.
Drinking plenty of water keeps the body hydrated, which can in turn help promote vaginal moisture. So, bottoms up!
Many personal care products contain ingredients that can be drying or irritating to intimate skin. Skip the sulfates and opt for a clean body wash like this one that helps replenish skin’s natural moisture rather than stripping it. You may also want to avoid products that contain harsh synthetic fragrance like scented pads, pantyliners, bubble bath and even laundry detergent. These can be irritating to intimate skin and may even lead to conditions like contact dermatitis.
By understanding the causes and solutions for vaginal dryness during the menstrual cycle, women can take control of their health and comfort. With the help of products like Marlow tampons and SweetSpot Labs intimate moisturizers, women can experience a more comfortable and enjoyable menstrual cycle, free from the discomfort of vaginal dryness.

]]>During pregnancy, the body produces hormones that cause increased blood flow to the vulva and vagina. This can result in a feeling of fullness or pressure in the area. The vulva may become swollen, and the skin may darken in color. These changes are normal and usually not a cause for concern.
Vaginal discharge during pregnancy can look (and feel) quite different from what you might be used to. Discharge is typically thin, white, and odorless but can change in amount, consistency and texture during pregnancy. This change is usually nothing to worry about. However, if you notice a strong odor or a change in color accompanied by itching or irritation, it may be a sign of infection and you should contact your medical provider.
Often described as a lightning bolt shooting from the vagina or rectum, lightning crotch refers to a sudden, sharp pain in the pelvic area during pregnancy. This type of pain can be caused by a number of factors, including the baby's movement, pressure on the nerves in the pelvis, and the stretching of the ligaments and muscles in the area. Lightning crotch is usually not a cause for concern. However, if the pain is severe or persistent, it is important to speak with your medical provider to rule out any underlying conditions.
As your due date approaches, you may notice increased pressure on the perineum, which is the area between the vagina and anus. This pressure can be uncomfortable and may make it difficult to sit or walk. Perineal massage, which involves gently stretching and massaging the area, can help reduce the risk of tearing during childbirth.
One of the most noticeable changes to your breasts is an increase in size and darkening of the areola, the darker area surrounding the nipple. This is due to hormonal changes and increased blood flow to the area. In addition to changes in size and color, the shape of the nipple may also change during pregnancy. Some women may experience a flattening or inversion of the nipple, while others may notice that their nipples become more prominent or stick out more than usual. These changes are usually temporary and will often revert back to their pre-pregnancy state after giving birth, but it is important to note that every woman's experience is different.
During pregnancy, the breasts undergo significant changes in preparation for lactation. Hormones cause the milk ducts to enlarge and the breasts to increase in size. This can lead to breast tenderness and soreness, especially in the first trimester.
As the breasts grow, the skin may become itchy and stretch marks may appear. Wearing a supportive bra and applying a clean, non-irritating moisturizer like Hydrate Ever After can help alleviate discomfort and prevent stretch marks.
During the third trimester (27 weeks pregnant until birth), your breasts may start producing colostrum, a yellowish fluid that is the precursor to breast milk. This is normal and a sign that the body is preparing to breastfeed your baby. Some women choose to harvest their colostrum, keeping it on hand to feed baby in the first few days after birth.
As your body is growing and changing during pregnancy, it’s important to pay attention to your sweet spots and contact your medical provider if you notice any changes that concern you. Remember to take care of yourself and your body during this special time!

Whether you’re looking for an effective ingrown hair treatment, a gentle intimate cleanser, or a moisturizer to use after shaving and waxing, SweetSpot Labs has you covered. We're committed to continuing to innovate and creating clean, gentle, and effective products that meet the needs of women everywhere.]]>To do perineal massage, you'll need a few supplies, including a comfortable place to sit, a clean towel, and a gyn-approved intimate moisturizer, like SweetSpot Labs Hydrate Ever After. You may also want to use a mirror to help guide your massage. We love this one from Nyssa Care.
Sit in a comfortable position, such as on a cushion or a yoga block, with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Lean back slightly and open your legs, allowing your perineum to be easily accessible.
Apply a small amount of Hydrate Ever After to clean fingers and the perineal area. This will help to reduce friction and make the massage more comfortable.
Place your thumbs about an inch inside your vagina, pressing down towards the anus. Gently massage this area, using a U-shaped motion, for 2-3 minutes. You should feel a slight stretch, but it should not be painful. As you massage, try to breathe deeply and relax your pelvic floor muscles. If you’re not sure exactly how to perform a perineal massage, check out this video for a step-by-step guide.
After massaging the middle of the perineum, move your thumbs to the sides and repeat the U-shaped motion, focusing on the areas where you are most likely to experience a vaginal tear during delivery. This may be towards the front or back of the perineum, depending on your individual anatomy.
Perineal massage is most effective when done regularly, so aim to do it daily, starting around 34 weeks of pregnancy. You can increase the duration of the massage as you get closer to your due date, up to 10 minutes per day.
In just a few minutes a day, you can help to prepare your body for childbirth, reduce the risk of vaginal tearing, and promote postpartum healing. It's important to note that perineal massage is not a guarantee against vaginal tears or other complications during childbirth, so it's important to talk to your healthcare provider about other ways to prepare for delivery. With a little bit of practice and patience, perineal massage can be an easy and effective way to support your body during this exciting time.

]]>Your hormones are likely to fluctuate during pregnancy and postpartum, which can affect the pH balance of your intimate skin. This can lead to dryness, itching, and discomfort. To avoid these issues, it's important to keep your intimate skin clean and hydrated.
The best way to do this is by swapping your body wash for a gentle cleanser like SweetSpot Labs Fragrance-Free Wash. This pH-balanced wash is formulated with 99% naturally-derived ingredients, and is free from harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens. It's perfect for daily use from chin to toe, as it gently cleanses without disrupting the delicate balance of your intimate skin.
Another way to care for your intimate skin during pregnancy and postpartum is by using a daily moisturizer. It's important to note that not all moisturizers are safe for use during pregnancy and postpartum. Some products may contain harmful chemicals or fragrances that can irritate your skin or harm your baby. That's why it's important to choose a product that is specifically formulated for your intimate skin, like Hydrate Ever After.
This lightweight intimate moisturizer is specifically formulated to replenish natural moisture to your intimate skin. Bonus: it can also be used on your pregnant belly to help prevent stretch marks. It's made with clean, bio-identical emollient oils including Jojoba, Macadamia Seed, and Squalene, plus a super-effective concentration of Micro-Hyaluronic Acid for all-day comfort. Plus, it's fragrance-free and hypoallergenic, making it safe for sensitive skin.
In addition to daily moisturizing, perineal massage is another important step in caring for your intimate skin during pregnancy. Daily perineal massage helps to stretch and relax the muscles in your perineum, which can make childbirth easier and reduce the risk of vaginal tearing. Hydrate Ever After provides the perfect gyn-approved lubricant for a gentle, comfortable massage.
Vaginal discharge is (usually) a totally normal bodily function. Typically, discharge is clear or milky white, and thin. While pregnant, you may notice a change in the amount, consistency, and even color of your discharge. If you experience an increase in white discharge during pregnancy, it’s probably nothing to worry about. But if you notice a change in your discharge combined with itching, irritation or a foul odor, consult your medical provider.
During pregnancy and postpartum, your fluctuating hormones can make skin (especially intimate skin) more sensitive. You may want to avoid using scented products like bubble bath, feminine sprays, or scented pads. These can irritate your skin and disrupt the pH balance of your intimate area.
To further protect the natural balance of your sweet spots, wear loose-fitting clothing made from breathable fabrics like cotton. This will allow air to circulate around your intimate area, reducing the risk of irritation or infection.
Caring for your intimate skin during pregnancy and postpartum is an important part of self-care. Don't forget to also take care of yourself emotionally and mentally during this time, as it can be a challenging but rewarding journey. Best of luck, mama!

]]>We are so excited to announce the launch of our first-ever refillable product, Microbiome Balancing Intimate Spray. Each refill pouch takes the place of three spray bottles to reduce plastic and reduce waste (all while saving you money - win/win/win!). And by shipping just one refill rather than three separate sprays, we’re reducing carbon emissions.
Our bestselling ingrown hair pads got a major eco-friendly makeover last summer, including a switch to biodegradable pads. Plus, we made the jar 20% smaller to reduce its footprint and sourced the material from 30% PCR (post-consumer reclaimed/recycled) plastics.
We continue to use 100% recycled, FSC-certified paper for all our cartons. And since they’re printed with vegetable-based inks, they are fully recyclable and naturally biodegradable. Whenever possible, we skip unnecessary outer packaging and opt for PCR plastics to reduce the production of virgin plastic.
In addition to being clinically proven non-irritating and sweet on intimate skin, our formulas are sweet on the planet. We consciously source natural ingredients and use more eco-friendly lab-created alternatives to prioritize both the earth and the health, balance and comfort of intimate skin.
We know our choices impact not only the environment, but all the creatures with whom we share our earthly home. That’s why all SweetSpot Labs products are certified cruelty-free and vegan by PETA, except Rescue Balm which contains responsibly-sourced organic beeswax.
As we continue to strive toward sustainability, we want to thank you for your continued support! By choosing conscious brands like ours, you are voting for the future you’d like to see. Together we can ensure a brighter tomorrow for all.
]]>It may seem obvious to some, but "vulva" and "vagina" are not dirty words. A recent survey found that 65% of women aged 16-25 have a problem saying these words out loud. This is concerning because if we can't even say the word "vulva," how can we possibly have honest, open conversations about vulvovaginal health, sexual wellness, or any other number of important dialogues?
This same study showed that 1 in 4 women have negative feelings toward their vulva. This can manifest itself as low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, reduced sexual pleasure and gratification, and other negative psychological effects. These feelings of shame and embarrassment are often perpetuated by unrealistic beauty standards and unrealistic portrayals of vulvas in mainstream media and pornography. Many women are choosing to undergo surgery to alter the appearance of their vulvas to look more like those they’ve seen on screen. It must be said that no two vulvas look exactly alike - and that is precisely what makes each one beautiful in its own unique way!
Lastly, and perhaps most alarmingly, 1 in 3 women say they have avoided going to the doctor with gynecological issues due to embarrassment. This can lead to delayed diagnosis and increased health risks. When it comes to your health, no amount of shame should stand in the way of getting the care you need and deserve. Remember, your doctor is on your side! And there is likely very little that could shock them - they’ve seen it all.
Women deserve better than to feel ashamed and stigmatized for something as natural as their own bodies. So, how can we shop shame and start embracing our vulvas? Here are some suggestions:
It’s long past time to challenge the shame and embarrassment that has been ingrained in us for far too long. Join SweetSpot Labs April 21 in honor of National Vulva Awareness Day and celebrate all things vulva!
]]>In today's day and age, it feels like we've all but freed ourselves from the history of oppression and "ick" surrounding women's health and sexuality. But there's still a huge knowledge gap about our bodies - especially about the vulva.
When most people say “vagina” what they’re actually referring to is the vulva. The vagina is just 1 of 7 different structures that make up the vulva. And only 17% of women can correctly identify the vulva. We call this the "vulva void.” Even though it’s a cute name, it can have significant consequences that can lead to shame, discomfort, reduced pleasure, and even misdiagnosis.
In a recent survey, women ages 16-25 were asked a series of questions related to their knowledge and education of the vulva. The results showed:
We know vulva owners everywhere deserve better. So join us this April 21st as we shine a light on the “vulva void” and erase any shame or stigma around this beautiful and powerful part of the body!
1. Say VULVA!
Words can hold great power. Try saying the word “vulva” out loud - even if it’s only to yourself in the mirror! The more we use it, the more comfortable we’ll get. Who knows? The next time you hear someone say “vagina” when they really mean “vulva” you might be confident enough to share what you know!
2. Look at Yours
To know yourself is to love yourself! Take a peek at what you've got going on down there and remember that vulvas come in all sorts of shapes, colors and sizes - each beautiful in its own way.
3. Support Sex & Wellness Education
In honor of Vulva Awareness Day, we are partnering with our friends at The Body Agency to bring you The Vuppet! You can purchase a handmade Vuppet to support The Body Agency’s work to bring sexual health & wellness education to women & girls around the globe.
4. Watch Our Virtual Panel Discussion
SweetSpot Labs recently hosted a live virtual Vulva Salon event featuring gynecologist Dr. Erica Montes, and TikTok’s viral “outie” vulva owner Gabriella Scaringe to raise awareness, educate and destigmatize the vulva.
]]>Many vulva owners go through life only seeing their own vulvas. If we do see others, it’s often in the context of porn, which typically only shows one type of vulva - completely hairless, with perfectly symmetrical, unseen labia. Without a diverse set of reference points, it’s easy to wonder if yours looks the way it “should.”
The good news is - every vulva is completely unique and beautiful in its own right! Don’t believe us? Click here to see for yourself! Gynodiversity.com has put together an amazing library of vulva photos to help alleviate the insecurities many vulva owners carry and help them feel more comfortable in their skin.
As estrogen levels change throughout different stages of life, the appearance of our vulvas change too. You’re probably aware that before puberty, the vulva does not have pubic hair and after puberty, it does. But did you know that during menopause, it’s common to lose pubic hair again? The same is true for the size and color of the labia. For example, before puberty, labia tend to be small and unseen. Once puberty hits, labia tend to grow and darken. During menopause, it’s common to see these changes reverse.
Despite what porn might have you think, there are more vulvas out there with protruding labia than not! Our guest panelist Gabriella Scaringe started her vulva-inclusive lingerie brand, Cherri, for exactly this reason, and continues to discuss the topic openly on TikTok, helping an untold number of vulva owners realize they’re not alone.
According to Dr. Erica Montes, OBGYN, there is no correlation between how much sex you have and how your labia look. And for that matter, no amount of sex will change the size of your vagina either! Your labia are as unique as your fingerprint, and their size, shape, color, and texture are completely unrelated to sexual activity.

]]>Many people use the terms vagina and vulva interchangeably, but it’s important to understand the difference between the two. The vulva is the external part of the female genitalia and includes the labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and vaginal opening. The vagina, on the other hand, is the internal canal that leads from the cervix to the outside world.
Contrary to popular belief, the vagina itself is not the cause of odor down there (except in the case of vaginal infections like BV or others). The odor that women experience is caused by bacteria that naturally occur in the genital area. This odor can be exacerbated by sweat and heat, which creates a breeding ground for bacteria.
If you choose to use a deodorant on your vulva, it’s important to choose one that is specifically formulated for the genital area. Using a deodorant meant for the underarms can cause irritation, itching and dryness because many contain harsh ingredients that can irritate sensitive intimate skin. When selecting a deodorant for your private parts, look for one that is gentle and pH-balanced. Avoid ‘feminine’ sprays and deodorants that contain drying alcohols, fragrance, and harsh chemicals that can disrupt the natural balance of your vulvovaginal flora. Look for a formula that is hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested to minimize the risk of irritation.
If you’re looking for a safe and effective intimate deodorant, SweetSpot Labs Microbiome Balancing Intimate Spray is clinically proven non-irritating, hypoallergenic, and free from common irritants and yeast triggers to protect the delicate balance of your intimate skin.
Conventional feminine deodorants and freshening sprays rely on harsh chemicals and fragrance to mask odor temporarily, but don’t address the underlying issue of bacteria. Fragrance-free Microbiome Balancing Spray is made with powerful prebiotics and pre-odorants that neutralize odor-causing bacteria to stop odor before it starts. In turn, it also helps to protect from specific bacterial and yeast imbalances that can lead to intimate breakouts, boils, itch, and irritation.
]]>The vagina and vulva are designed to be warm, moist environments - the perfect home for bacteria to thrive. Surprisingly, that’s a good thing! Bacteria that live in our bodies are called "normal flora." The types of bacteria present in our bodies change depending on where they live--the stomach has different kinds than the intestines or mouth--and each person has their own unique mix of normal flora that helps keep them healthy by protecting against harmful invaders like viruses and fungus.
During your period, the pH levels of the vagina and vulva shift due to hormone fluctuations, and this change in pH leads to changes in the levels and types of bacteria present. This can cause a change in vaginal odor. You may notice a more metallic period smell, a fishy smell, or even a rotten odor. If you notice a change in odor accompanied by other symptoms like stomach pain, a fever, or yellow/green discharge, consult your medical provider as this may indicate an infection.
Remember, vaginal odor is usually totally normal and typically isn’t noticeable to other people. But if you’d like to minimize odor, there are a few things you can do.
Cleanse your external sweet spots with a pH-balancing intimate cleanser like SweetSpot Labs Microbiome Balancing Wash every time you shower to help lift away odor-causing impurities while protecting the delicate balance of your vulvovaginal flora.
Synthetic fabrics like polyester and spandex hug the body and retain heat - leading to more bacterial growth and more odor. Whenever possible, swap those snug undies or yoga pants for something lightweight and cotton to help minimize sweat, odor and bacteria.
The vagina is self-cleaning. Douching the vaginal canal can disrupt the natural balance of your microbiome and lead to irritation or even infection (not to mention odor). Remember when it comes to cleansing your sweet spots, stick to washing the outside only!
It can be tempting to cover up a period smell with scented personal hygiene products like deodorant or pads/pantyliners. While fragrance might cover up the smell temporarily, they do nothing to actually combat vaginal odor and can actually be irritating to your sweet spots. So skip the scented stuff or opt for a gently fragranced option like our washes and wipes that smell great but are still sweet on intimate skin.
Ah, the period panties. They’ve seen things, been through things. They’re highly dependable, but if you’ve only got one or two pair, be sure to give them a good wash between wears to minimize bacteria exposure and help reduce period smell.
There’s nothing wrong with partaking in sex while on your period! Just be sure to give your sweet spots a little extra care after. If you can shower, use one of our pH-balancing washes to lift away bacteria that may have been transferred from one partner to the other during the act. If you can’t shower, grab pH-balancing wipes instead.
Unlike most ‘feminine sprays’ or even deodorants that attempt to cover up odor with harsh fragrance, the ingredients in Microbiome Balancing Intimate Spray actually prevent odor before it starts. Regular use of this spray blocks bacteria from digesting fluids—like sweat, semen, menstrual blood, and urine—and prevents odor from happening in the first place. Spray it on in the morning and reapply as needed throughout the day and say goodbye to period smell!

]]>When you think of bacteria, the first thing that comes to mind may not be “good.” But not all bacteria are harmful! In fact, some bacteria are the good guys. The balance of good and bad bacteria in your vaginal canal and on the vulva (aka intimate skin) is vital to your vulva/vaginal health. When the bad bacteria outnumber the good, the microbiome is thrown off-balance. This imbalance can lead to irritating intimate concerns like vaginal itching, candida yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and even odor. Shoring up the levels of good bacteria is your first line of defense.
Prebiotics and probiotics are both beneficial to vaginal health. Probiotics are friendly live bacteria sometimes found in and on our bodies, as well as in food and supplements. Using probiotics helps increase levels of good bacteria to mitigate imbalance of the microbiome. Prebiotics, on the other hand, feed existing good bacteria to help maintain optimal vaginal health.
1. Balance Bacteria
By acting as a food source for good bacteria, prebiotics help the good bacteria crowd out the bad. This helps fuel a healthy, well-balanced microbiome. In this way, prebiotics are a great way to prevent imbalance and the irritating side effects that can come with it.
2. Maintain Healthy pH Levels
A healthy pH is essential for creating a healthy environment where good bacteria can thrive. If the naturally acidic pH of the vulva/vagina becomes too basic, you can end up with odor, dryness, or even bacterial and fungal infections. Prebiotics are acidic in nature, and help promote a healthy pH level.
3. Help Prevent Bacterial/Yeast Infections
Conditions like yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis are triggered by an overgrowth of candida fungi or bacteria. By supporting healthy levels of good bacteria and yeast, prebiotics can help prevent these types of issues.
If you’re looking for a prebiotic supplement for your sweet spots, look no further than Microbiome Balancing Wash and Microbiome Balancing Spray. Packed with powerful prebiotics and free from common yeast triggers, these daily must-haves are the best way to avoid imbalance and maintain healthy, happy skin from chin to toe!

]]>The ultimate deodorant for private parts, Microbiome Balancing Spray can be used directly on the vulva and/or butt to balance the microbiota and stop odor in its tracks. Rather than covering it up with heavy fragrance or harsh chemicals, our spray neutralizes odor at the source by preventing odor-causing bacteria from growing. Spray it on in the morning or as-needed throughout the day. Before yoga, after a run, or before a roll in the hay, Microbiome Balancing Spray easily fits in your purse or gym bag to refresh anytime, anywhere.
Prefer a less direct approach? Spray onto your undies! Just be sure to patch test first.
If you’re no stranger to breakouts under your boobs, Microbiome Balancing Spray is your new breast friend. When sweat gathers under your boobs or where your sports bra hits, bacteria and yeast are soon to follow. This overgrowth can lead to underboob rashes and chest acne. Unlike other chest acne treatments, this spray helps balance bacteria, yeast, and pH levels to help stop breakouts before they start. Plus it’s super refreshing! Simply spray under the girls every day.
Breakouts on your backside can be a real pain in the butt - literally. Despite its name, buttne is not the same as acne on your face. It’s usually folliculitis, which is an inflammation of the hair follicle caused by yeast or bacteria. Anyone can get it, but risk factors like shaving/waxing, constrictive clothing, and having thick or curly hair can make you more susceptible. Microbiome Balancing Spray helps inhibit bacteria and yeast overgrowth to keep skin healthy, balanced and breakout-free.
What’s better than a bacne treatment? A bacne preventative. Use Microbiome Balancing Spray on your back to help prevent breakouts. Pair with Microbiome Balancing Wash as part of your daily shower routine to balance back acne-prone skin and break the breakout cycle.

]]>Except in the case of some infections, the vagina is not responsible for intimate odor. The root cause of body odor (whether it’s coming from your armpits, your vulva, your butt, or anywhere else) is the bacteria that naturally occur on your skin - aka the microbiome. When you sweat, these bacteria eat the salt, water, and fat in our sweat – the waste they produce is what smells.
Typical deodorant for private parts relies on fragrance to cover up odor, but this is a short-lived solution and potentially harmful to health. Antiperspirants use heavy metals like aluminum to block sweat glands, cutting off the odor-causing bacteria’s food source. Popular natural deodorants use baking soda to neutralize pH and reduce odor – but this ingredient can be incredibly irritating to skin.
New Microbiome Balancing Spray works to stop odor before it starts by:
1. Balancing pH
When it comes to vulvovaginal health, a balanced pH is key. When your pH levels are out of whack, you are at increased risk for odor, itching, irritation, dryness, and even infection. Microbiome Balancing Spray is pH-optimized for a healthy vulvovaginal microbiome (4.4 - 5.4) to keep your sweet spots in their sweet spot.
2. Inhibiting Odor-Causing Bacteria
Unlike most feminine sprays or even deodorants “for private parts” that attempt to cover up odor with harsh fragrance, the ingredients in Microbiome Balancing Spray actually prevent odor before it starts. Prebiotics and Pre-Odorants work together to limit the growth and adhesion of specific bacteria & cutaneous yeast that can trigger odor, bumps, boils, itch & irritation, while supporting beneficial vulvovaginal microbiota.
Regular use of Microbiome Balancing Spray blocks bacteria from digesting fluids on your skin—like sweat, semen, blood, and urine—and prevents B.O. from happening in the first place, anywhere on your body!
